1. Acceptance of these terms

By using EPVision (the "App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Eligibility

The App is intended for users 18 years of age and older, for as long as any user-facing feature uses an AI provider (currently Google's Gemini API) whose own terms prohibit serving clients under 18. This is a current provider-contract restriction, not a permanent statement of EPVision's intended audience: our future goal is to lower this to approximately 15 and older, but only once every AI provider actively used by the App, and all applicable legal requirements, permit it, and only after a full review confirms this. See the Privacy Policy, section 2.3, for the current provider list. The App has no age-verification mechanism today; by using the App, you represent that you are at least 18.

3. What EPVision is

EPVision is a culinary reference and creativity tool. It provides recipe organization, a "sketchbook" for plating ideas, and (when enabled) AI-assisted features such as recipe recognition from photos, cooking guidance, and AI-generated plating/dish images.

4. Informational nature — not professional advice

EPVision, including any AI-generated content, is provided for general informational and creative purposes only. It is not professional culinary, nutritional, medical, or food-safety advice.

5. AI output may be wrong

Any text or image generated by an AI feature within EPVision may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your situation. AI-generated recipes, ingredient suggestions, technique guidance, and images are not guaranteed to be correct, safe, or achievable as shown. Always use your own judgment.

6. Food safety and allergy disclaimer

You are solely responsible for verifying that any recipe, ingredient substitution, cooking technique, or AI-generated suggestion is safe for you and anyone you serve food to — including with respect to allergies, intolerances, dietary restrictions, food safety (such as safe cooking temperatures and safe handling), and any other health consideration. EPVision does not verify the safety, nutritional accuracy, or allergen content of any recipe or AI output. Do not rely on EPVision for medical, allergy, or emergency food-safety decisions — consult a qualified professional or, in an emergency, emergency services.

7. Your responsibility to verify

You agree to independently verify any recipe, technique, or AI-generated content before relying on it — including checking it against a trusted source when food safety, allergens, or health are involved.

8. Prohibited use

You agree not to:

use the App for any unlawful purpose;
attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or overload the App's backend services (including circumventing fair-use/rate limits);
attempt to extract, reverse engineer, or misuse the App's AI integrations beyond normal use of the App's own features;
use the App to generate content that is illegal, or that infringes another person's rights.

Additional prohibited-use terms specific to future product decisions may be added.

9. Your content

You retain ownership of the recipes, photos, and other content you create or upload in EPVision ("Your Content"). Your Content is stored on your own device, as described in the Privacy Policy. You must have the necessary rights or permission to upload or submit any image or other content you provide to the App, including content sent to an AI feature and, in turn, to a third-party AI provider. EPVision does not currently offer any public sharing, social, or community feature — Your Content is not shown to other users.

Whether any additional license grant is needed from users for Your Content, beyond the permission requirement above, is still being confirmed.

10. Intellectual property

The App itself — its design, branding, bundled reference images/assets, and underlying software — is owned by Viktor Örn Sigurðsson and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you rights to EPVision's own branding or bundled assets beyond your normal use of the App.

11. AI-generated content and provider limitations

AI features in EPVision rely on third-party AI providers (see the Privacy Policy, sections 2.3 and 10). EPVision does not control, and is not responsible for, the accuracy, availability, or behavior of these third-party providers. The specific AI providers and models used may change over time — see the Privacy Policy, section 2.3. AI features may be temporarily or permanently unavailable, rate-limited, or disabled at any time, including by a server-side control that can turn AI features off entirely without an app update.

Whether explicit language addressing ownership/licensing of AI-generated output itself is needed is pending legal review.

12. Availability

We do not guarantee that the App or any feature (particularly AI features, which depend on third-party providers and are currently gated by a feature flag) will be available at all times, uninterrupted, or error-free.

13. Account and data deletion

You may request deletion of your EPVision account and associated data at any time using Help & Support → Delete all my data inside the App, or using the external method described on our Account & Data Deletion page. This deletes your on-device content, your active account profile, and the fair-use/operational records tied to your account on our servers, and this deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Where in-app purchases are enabled, purchase, credit-ledger, accounting, taxation, refund, chargeback, security, and fraud-prevention records may be retained beyond account deletion only where legally required or legitimately necessary — pseudonymized or disassociated from your active profile where reasonably possible, with restricted access and a defined retention period. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what is deleted and what may briefly persist on third-party or infrastructure systems outside our direct control.

14. Payments and subscriptions

EPVision is intended to launch with in-app token/credit purchases, used to access certain features. EPVision contains purchase and credit user-interface and backend components that are still being prepared. Production purchases are currently unavailable and cannot complete because the required Google Play products and production purchase-verification path have not been enabled. Prices, token package sizes, subscription plans, token expiration, refund rules, and transferability rules are not yet decided. This section will be updated before purchases are made available.

15. Disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability

EPVision is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. We do not guarantee that the service will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for every purpose.

AI-generated material may be incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable. It is provided as creative and informational assistance, not as professional food-safety, medical, nutritional, or allergen advice. Users must independently verify recipes, ingredients, allergens, temperatures, timings, food-safety requirements, and suitability before relying on an output.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, EPVision is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses arising from use of the service. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, or any mandatory consumer rights.

16. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Iceland. This choice of law does not deprive consumers of any mandatory protections that apply to them under applicable law. The courts of Iceland have jurisdiction over disputes relating to these Terms, except where mandatory consumer law permits proceedings in another competent jurisdiction.

17. Changes to these terms

Our specific process for updating these Terms and notifying users of material changes has not yet been finalized.
